Margaret
Fuller is the author or co-author of five Idaho hiking guidebooks and
three books of natural history. Trails of the Sawtooth and White Cloud
Mountains, first published in 1979, was the first comprehensive
guidebook to any of Idaho's trails. The book was a seven year long
family project for Margaret, her husband Wayne, and their five
children. When the book came out it caused controversy because it gave
away how to get to places some Idahoans liked to keep secret. Since
then the book has been revised and updated three times and has increased in
size from 73 to 105 hikes. Her other guidebooks, all in their second
or third editions, have been expanded as well. Margaret has hiked more
than 5,800 miles on Idaho trails and has given 240 slide shows on the
mountains of Idaho. She lives in Weiser and writes full time.
